Avuncular testing is a DNA test used to determine if a person is the biological niece or nephew of a potential aunt or uncle.
This type of test is often used when the parent of the person being tested is unavailable or deceased, and a biological relationship needs to be established. The process involves collecting DNA samples, usually via cheek swabs, from the individual (the niece or nephew) and the potential aunt or uncle.
The DNA is then analyzed to compare specific genetic markers shared between the two individuals. The results provide a likelihood ratio, indicating how probable it is that the individuals share the biological relationship of aunt/uncle and niece/nephew.
Avuncular testing has various applications, including resolving inheritance and legal disputes, proving family ties in immigration cases, and addressing personal questions about lineage or family connections.
Cancellation Policy
A cancellation will not result in a refund for any reason. However, you may reschedule your appointment as long as it is at least 24 hours before your appointment, or you will be charged a $50.00 reschedule fee. No call no show will result in you paying for another test.
